Adamawa: Galadima Support Group in collaboration with free light Empower 318 Yola Women with Vocational Skills

In a significant move towards women’s economic empowerment, the Women Group Support for Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Galadima has successfully trained 318 women in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State on various income-generating skills.

The beneficiaries graduated on Wednesday in Bole Ward, Yola South, after acquiring skills in bag making, shoemaking, soap production, bedspread design, and other vocational trades. The women proudly displayed their handmade products at the colourful graduation ceremony.

Coordinator of the Women Group Support Alhaji Tijani Ahmed Galadima, Maria Nyako, described the programme as the beginning of a larger initiative aimed at promoting self-reliance among women across Adamawa State.

“This is the start of a process designed to reach far,” Nyako said. She disclosed that the group plans to train 500 women in each of the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

The skills acquisition programme is being implemented in collaboration with the Free Light of Nigeria Youth Foundation. Founder of the foundation, Hajiya Farida Musa Jauro, assured the graduates that they would receive startup support after the training.

Representing the governorship aspirant, Ahmed Tijani Galadima, at the event, Chief Medan Bulus commended the initiative as a major boost for women’s development.

“The knowledge and skills you have acquired are more than vocational tools. They are instruments of change. They carry the power to uplift your families, support your communities and redefine your future,” Bulus told the graduates.

He urged the women to become ambassadors of self-employment and sources of inspiration to other women and girls in their communities.

The training programme is the first phase of what organisers describe as a sustained effort to equip women with practical skills for economic independence across Adamawa State.
