On Saturday, Gov. Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla (Bindow) of Adamawa State ordered the immediate reinstatement of 80 employees of Michika, one of the state’s local governments.
The affected workers had been disengaged by a panel for alleged discrepancies in their hiring process.
Bindow, who is seeking reelection in March 2, 2019, polls on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, announced that they be reinstated at a political rally in Michika, headquarters of the LGA.
He recalled how he enjoyed the support of Michika people as their senator between May 2011 and May 2015, urging them to continue to support APC in Adamawa and the nation. Gov. Jibrilla assured Michika people of massive infrastructure provision when he is reelected.
Chairman of APC in Adamawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal, said that the incumbent state government had brought change, especially in the area of infrastructural development. Bilal explained that Michika had produced leaders in the past but lacked development.
Receiving decampees from other parties, the APC chairman assured the people that President Muhammadu Buhari would continue to provide security for the people of Northeast Nigeria.
He hinted of the state government’s plans build roads on a massive scale if given another term of office.
The Director-General of Buhari Bindow Campaign Organisation, Chief Felix Tangwami, thanked Michika people for what he described as a turnout of people at the rally. Tangwami said that the present dispensation in Adamawa was of immense advantage to people of Michika. He urged them to vote en masse for APC to continue its good work.
Ms. Patience Kwache, who spoke on behalf of decampees, explained that they were tired of following parties that did not mean well for the people. Michika, she continued, had longed for development in the past, but APC had proved to be the government of the people.
She expressed the resolve of other decampees to massively vote for APC in the coming elections.
Chairman of Michika local government, Mr. Vandi Favanza, appealed to Gov. Jibrilla to construct other roads as well as provide employment for Michika youths and women.
Michika LGA has produced past governors including Boni Haruna, Buba Marwa (onetime military administrator for Lagos), Saleh Michika, and other prominent people.
Michika once came under siege of Boko Haram insurgents but was freed by the military, though the tell-tale signs are still visible.
