Adamawa Governorship Front-Runner Dr Girie Slams “Malicious” Withdrawal Rumours, Vows to Clinch APC Ticket in 2027

‎The camp of Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei, one of the leading aspirants for the Adamawa State governorship seat, has vehemently dismissed circulating social media reports claiming he has withdrawn from the 2027 race.

‎In a strongly worded statement issued Friday, Girei’s team described the rumours as “malicious, baseless and unfounded,” accusing unnamed political opponents of resorting to “mundane and backward” tactics born out of desperation and lack of viable ideas.

‎“The attention of Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei has been drawn to some malicious, baseless and unfounded information circulating within some social media spaces, dubiously suggesting that Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei has withdrawn his aspiration for the Governorship ticket of Adamawa State,” the statement read.

‎It further described the peddlers of the false claim as “bankrupt political neophytes” who repeatedly deploy the same worn-out strategy whenever they run out of substantive political arguments.

‎Addressing supporters and the general public, the statement declared that Dr. Girei remains “focused, undisturbed and forward ever” on his quest to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket.

‎“Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei will remain focused, undisturbed and forward ever on his way of clinching the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, Almighty God willing, come 2027,” the statement affirmed.

‎Dr. Girei, widely regarded as one of the most visible and formidable contenders in the emerging race, has continued to galvanise support across the 21 local government areas of the state in recent months.

‎His camp insists the fresh wave of rumours is nothing more than a calculated attempt to distract and demoralise his growing political movement.

‎As the countdown to the 2027 governorship election begins in earnest, political watchers say Girei’s prompt and robust rebuttal may have further strengthened his position as a serious contender within the APC ahead of party primaries.
