Adamawa govt takes serious measures to mitigate the effects of flooding

The government of Adamawa state during an extra ordinatory extended council meeting,where all the government senior civil servants, all political appointees converged at the Banquet Hall,government house Yola and deliberated on ways to mitigate the effects of flooding disaster in the State.

While itemising the agenda of the meeting to be,Flooding situation in Adamawa state, security situation and political development in the state,the secretary to the State Government, Dr Umar Bindir said the essence of the meeting is to brainstorm with stakeholders on how to avert any impending danger of by flood and how they will in turn convey the message back to the grassroot people.

In the meeting commissioner of information, Ahmad Sajoh gave a situation report of the communities flooded by water,Said flood displaced over 200 people in Yola until the state government camped the people who turned IDPs in a primary school.

Sajo revealed that 3 persons were reported dead in Lamurde and 1 in Yola in the recent flood disaster in the State.

According to him after going round the overan by the flood,they discovered Lamurde,Yola south,Guyuk,Shelleng,Fofure and Hong houses and farms land were destroyed,attributing the disaster as a result of opening the water gates of Labdo Dam in Cameroon Republic.

“The meeting today is to Sentisize our various communities to wake up against the impending danger of this year’s flooding and report any flood disaster to our Situation and reporting room for faster response to complains by the state government.” Sajoh Said

He continue to say that the water disaster ravaging the communities have a very serious political, economic and social effects,calling on areas prune to flood disaster to be caution of this year’s rainy,so that they will not be cought or be taken unaware by impending danger of the flood.

The President in council meeting and the executive governor of the state,Sen Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow admonishes the people at the meeting to do what God will be pleased with by preaching the gospel of Peace.

He stressed a point to all attendees at the meeting that his government is the government of the people and people For the Government as people are the the mean reason of him being a governor of the state.

”You are part of the government, we are here to intimate you on the happening of the flooding, even if there is no rainfall as long as Labdo Dam is open Adamawa state will be flooded with water.

“Let’s all go back to our respective areas with message that they should adhere to government directives and instructions.” Bindow said

At the council he told all those present that flooding is their number priority of coming, and people should be informed to prepare before any flood will them us unaware.

Meaning contributions were taken by members of the council that will lead to lasting solution to the flooding disaster in the state and the Government assure indigenes of their support and ways to mitigate the effects of the disasters.
