Adamawa Govt. to construct dam in Mubi, says lawmaker

Member representing Mubi South Constituency in Adamawa State, Hon. Abdulrahman Abubakar said Adamawa Government has agreed to construct a Dam in Gella to address the problem of water supply in the area.

Abubakar made this known in a chat with newsmen over a a proposed dam project by European Union (EU).

Abubakar said EU would now sunk boreholes while Adamawa Government would handle the dam project.

He said that already officials from the state Ministry of Water Resources had visited the area on the projects.

On constituency projects, the lawmaker said  that he was utilizing his N20 million constituency money for empowerment projects.

Abubakar explained that out of the money he paid NECO for 170 students, while 3000 people would get  N10,000 each to  start or boost their petty businesses.

“There are also 404 students that will get N5000 each as bursary while registers, lesson notes chalk, and books among other were procured for schools.

“I will also rehabilitate electricity line to four villages in my constituency,” Abubakar said.

The lawmaker who also spoke on a controversial dam project in his constituency said the project would now be executed by the state government instead of European Union (EU)as being speculated.

He said EU would sunk boreholes while the state government would do the dam project.

Abubakar said he would not seek re-election to house of assembly based on his promised to his people to do only one term.

“I want to be like Mandela; I promised my people to serve one term and will stand by that”, Abubakar said.

He however said that he would go for Adamawa North Senatorial seat, adding that the the current senator representing the area, Binta Massi was not performing.
