Adamawa Labour Party removes chairman over allege sale of m’ship cards

Ahead of visit of presidential candidate of Labour Party, (LP) Peter Obi, the executive committee of the party, has removed Adamawa state chairman, Mr Christopher Nicholas, over alleged selling of membership cards.

Dr Zion Maina, who read out the letter of expulsion, Thursday in Yola, accused the party of not submitting list of state EXCO to INEC office, which violates the party’s constitution.

Maina, noted that, 9,000 membership cards were issued by the national headquarters, only 5,000 copies were issued to members of the party in the state.

The sack letter was signed by 21 out of the 24 EXCOs of the party.

Reacting to his sack, Mr Christopher Nicholas, denied contravening rules and regulations in handling the affairs of the party.

He insisted that, he remained the state, chairman of LP, adding that the decision of the party is taken, in conjunction with the executives and other party stakeholders.

He therefore, urged party members to remain calm insisting that he remained the substantive chairman of the party in the state.

“I want to urge the general public to disregard my purported removal as the state party chairman,” he said.

He added, that, the names and signatures of those who signed the vote of no confidence letter was fake, so also the numbers of local government party chairmen listed.
