Adamawa Lawyer blows hot on Gov Fintiri for violating self Covid-19 executive order

A constitutional lawyer who is a resolute human rights activist, Barrister Shagnah Pwamaddi has blasted the Executive Governor of Adamawa, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for violating state’s Executive Order on the covid-19 protocol.

Shangnah worried that the violation is a deliberate decision by Ahmadu to endanger the lives of thousands of Adamawa citizens with covid-19 and omicron variant pandemic which is claiming the lives of many people in the state, the country at large.

He made a proved of his accusations by recalling how the Governor on 24-12-2021 had through his Chief of Staff and a Professor of law Mr. Maxwell M. Gidado, S.A.N issued an executive notice with Ref.No. GHA/S/528/S.1/648 to all government tiers and establishments in the state that further prohibited Christmas and New Year homage to the Governor and the notice also directed religious and other relevant bodies to celebrate the yuletide by observing the Covid-19 Protocol.

According to the forthright lawyer, the instructive notice was openly violated by Fintiri when he abated aided the assembly of thousands of citizens at the newly constructed police Flyover/ Round About on 1st January 2022 for a New Year groove.

He said the gathering has completely violated the Covid-19 protocol at this critical period that the government at all levels is spending huge funds and other resources to curtail the spread of the dreaded pandemic.

“The action of the Governor has defiled his moral uprightness as the Leader of the state whose major responsibility under oath is to at all cost ensure public safety and order that include the protection of the citizens against dreaded disease such as the current dreaded covid-19 pandemic.

“Governor Ahmadu has no doubt deliberately jettisoned all Covid-19 omicron variant protocols despite plans put in place by the government at all levels towards fighting the pandemic.

“Given this deliberate disregard or noncompliance with the Covid-19 protocols by H.E. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the Federal Government through the SGF as the National Chairman of Covid-19 Committee is hereby called upon to declare a state of emergency in the fight against Covid-19 in Adamawa State by abolishing the state-owned Covid-19 Committee to be replaced with a different committee that can truly and truthfully fight the pandemic.

“The Federal Government is further called upon to henceforth direct all funds, donations, grants, and loans meant for the war against Covid-19 in Adamawa to an emergency committee to be constituted by it to ensure sincerity, transparency, and accountability in the fight against Covid-19 in Adamawa State.”

“I wish all the citizens of Adamawa State who might have contracted or infested with the virus as a result of the Governor’s insensitive action a supernatural recovery and Happy New Year,” Shannah said

All efforts to contact the Director Media and communication of Gov Ahmadu, Mr Solomon Kumangar for response was not possible as his telephone line was not been answered at press time.
