Vice president Yemi Osinbanjo has described the National Social Investment Programme in Adamawa as one of the best in the country and that beneficiaries have demonstrated that Nigerians are productive people who need government support to succeed.
He said, Adamawa is proving to be one of the best states in the country in terms of the social Investment programmes as participants and beneficiaries have been efficient and results have been evident lending credibility to the programme that Nigerians are a highly productive people.
He made the remarks during a town hall meeting with the programmes beneficiaries in Yola, Adamawa state.
Yemi Osinbanjo said, “At the bottom of the social pyramid of our country, there are thousands of people in need of support to achieve greatness and move the country forward.
“Adamawa is proving to be one of the best as beneficiaries are already showing signs of success that makes this government determined to ensure that several hundreds of thousands of Nigerians benefit from the programme.
“Hundreds of thousands more will benefit from the micro credit scheme. Nigerians are hardworking people and I believe that if you give Nigerians loan, many will use it to achieve great success from it,” He said.
Speaking at occasion the Adamawa state governor, Muhammad Umar Jibrilla represented by his deputy, Martins Babale commended president Muhammad Buhari for initiating the social Investment Programme.
Jibrilla said, “The impact and benefits of the programme have definitely gone beyond even initial expectations of those of us in government.
“The confidence exhibited by the representatives of the beneficiaries here today tells you and everyone that the programme is indeed well received in Adamawa state.”
The governor took time to acknowledge thousands of youths and other members of the Adamawa community that have benefited from the programme saying lives have been transformed and living standards have been uplifted by the social Investment Programme
