On announcing the sales of it’s 2018/2019 entry forms,the Adamawa state college of Nursing and Midwifery has introduced community midwifery as a new course of study in the college.
The Provost of the college, Alhaji Abubakar Salihu said the achievements is a collaborative effort of the institution and state’s primary Health care to enhance good health services to the people of the State.
Salihu also opined that the course is good as it’s aimed at reducing child mortality rate by wiping away unprofessional midwives and traditional birth attendance in rural communities.
“The course will replace traditional birth attendance,enhance good delivery and reduce child mortality rate as a result of poor child bearing in the state.” He Said
According to him the requirements entry of the course is lesser,demanding four credits in sciences including biology and the entry requirements of basic midwifery are five credit in sciences including English and Maths.
Abubakar praised the Sen Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindo’s adminstration for given a huge priority to Health sector which it has earlier been declared into a State of emergency.
“I must commend the executive governor of our State for giving us a constant backup to operate as an institutionalized and independent professional body, he has being pillar support.” He added
He further said that the graduants of the Course are meant to work in rural communities where they can effectively attend to the need of pregnants women to safe delivery.
