The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee through the North East representative, Professor TAHIR Mamman,OON, SAN, in Adamawa has on Monday received notable politicians he described as Amazons defected to APC fold ahead of the party’s nation wide registration and revalidation exercise.
According to him most of the defectors are politicians from the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties loyal to late Adamu Modibbo, a prominent politician, Gubernatorial candidate of Labor Party, later joined PDP as a governorship aspirant.
“APC received in its fold some amazons from PDP and other parties. Specifically, the structure of late Adamu Modibbo, a prominent politician in Adamawa, Gov candidate of Labor Party & later Gov aspirant in pdp left the PDP and joined APC. The group which is still intact across the length & breath of the state is led by Bless Hungushi Osagie, one time chairman of Demsa and later first female commissioner in the state, she is known to be a strong principled and well respected politician in the state.” Tahir said
Mamman also said that the Muna Hotel in Yola today (Monday), venue of the reception received a one time Senatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mrs Patricia Yakubu, Sarauniyar Ganye from Southern zone, a known political bulldozer.
“A third amazon picked by the APC is madam Grifit Shallangwa from Hong. She was the National secretary of the National Progressives Movement and their Senatorial Canidate in 2019. These strong ladies moved with their supporters thereby further swelling the ranks of the APC which has been the destination of prominent politicians of recent.” Mamman added
While welcoming the new decampees Mamman said they came at the right time when the party just started its revalidation and registration exercise.
He assured that APC is a party of fairness and will provide level playing field to all its members irrespective of when they joined the party.
Tahir advised them to contribute their quota that will further strengthen the party by bringing on board their experience and teeming supporters across the state. And were also advised to exercise patience and accord mutual respect to all members of the party.
“What is now on the lips of political observers is whether APC is set to repeat the feat of 2015 elections when the party took control of overwhelming number of states in the country and the federal government. Only time will tell.” He said
