Adamawa State police command has rescued six abducted persons and killed a suspected kidnapper during a gun duel.
The police command also recovered one AK 47 assault rifle alongside 17 rounds of live ammunition.
Disclosing a press release Friday, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, Adamawa State police command’s image maker, said policemen attached to Song Division, in a joint operation with DSS and Hunters achieved the feat on Dec 3 when they launched an attack on the suspects operating at Gwazari Hills, Mulleng, in Song local government area of the state.
The police spokesman said on the same day policemen attached to Gombi Division arrested one Mathias Shingu, a 32-year-old resident of Lagos who earned notoriety in car jerking and smuggling of stolen cars from Cameroon republic into Nigeria.
According to Nguroje, the suspect was arrested on his way from Lagos to Cameroon republic to dispose of a stolen Nissan car which he stole from a Lagos resident.
While commending the valiant of the joint operations, Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Barde noted joint operation is a good initiative and will critically evaluate the pattern and trend of crimes in the State.
He assured of massive and well-planned deployment of both Human and other operational assets of the Command to reinforce and consolidate on keeping Adamawa safe.
“The Frequent joint Operations is aimed at preventing and dislodging bandits from their current operational spaces and denying them space to regroup in other parts of the State. It will also ensure that all arrested bandits and their collaborators are brought to book,” the statement said.
The Barde assured the Government and good people of Adamawa State that the Command shall continue to do all within its powers to guarantee a stable security order across the State especially now that people are preparing for the forthcoming festivities.
He called on the civil populace to work with the Police and other security agencies in the joint tasks of safeguarding our State, especially in the area of providing useful, relevant, and timely information.
