A political group known as #consensus for All Progressives Congress, APC, in a meeting on Sunday vowed to support the party building up to 2023 through general elections.
The group leadership had brought all its twenty-one, local government coordinators, to Yola and reiterated their commitment to support APC, the opposition party in Adamawa state to retake power in all elective positions.
The State deputy Chairman of the group, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Turaki addressed group members in his Yola office and drawn their attention on the need to unite as a group in the spirit of APC to canvass support for the party in all ramifications.
According to him, the support became necessary because of the glaring fact that APC’s political elected officeholders are doing extremely well in terms of representation at the state and the national level.
He said the group must have a key role to play in making sure the party’s loyalists, especially the critical stakeholders remain united and focused in terms of getting the right candidates.
“Party unity, a wholesome love for the party is what we will make sure APC supporters canvasses. We will move from place to place, meeting party’s stalwarts in the state to ensure APC is one under one purpose.
” We will widely consult, meet whoever that matters at both national and state level to make sure APC takes its right position in 2023.
“Our APC leaders under the leadership of Ibrahim Bilal are trying their best, we will be supporting them with our strength of influence in the state of new members to joining us in due time.
” We thumped up to our APC members who won elective political positions. They are making us proud with their laudable projects across the state. We only hear of them, others don’t seem to exist.” Turaki said
Abubakar encouraged members to set their role in the motion of sustaining the unity of the party before and after the Congress.
The State Vice Chairman, Bishop Douglas Kalatapwa in his view said even though APC is an opposition party in the state, but it holding power at the Central with many of Adamawa APC members holding sensitive positions at the National level.
According to him this makes APC a party to beat come 2023, its scope of work, its caliber of members in the state is intimidating to encourage party loyalists of a hopeful 2023.
He further said that APC is no doubt helping people of the state and the previous government has immensely performed well, provided a good campaigns slogan in the coming elections.
“Let’s support our party well in the state and elsewhere, our political office holders and party officials have proven to be good leaders that we need to support,” Douglas said
