The event, which featured keynote speeches, goodwill messages, project video displays, and cultural performances, highlighted major national programmes executed during his tenure at the REA.

A citation presented at the ceremony outlined projects such as the Nigeria Electrification Project, the Solar Power Naija Initiative, the Energizing Education Programme, and the expansion of mini-grid solutions across rural communities.

Speakers noted that interventions implemented under his leadership delivered solar power systems to underserved areas, strengthened the Rural Electrification Fund, and laid the groundwork for the World Bank-supported DARES programme, now regarded as Nigeria’s flagship renewable energy expansion effort.

Participants also referenced his contributions to national climate-finance initiatives, including coordinating the Federal Ministry of Environment’s Green Bond Programme, which facilitated the issuance of Africa’s first Sovereign Green Bond valued at ₦10.69 billion.

Testimonies from beneficiaries, including community representatives and youth groups, credited these initiatives with improving energy access, supporting educational institutions, and creating opportunities for small businesses.

The event further acknowledged his philanthropic engagements in education support, environmental conservation, and youth empowerment across several communities.

In his acceptance remarks, Engr. Ahmad appreciated the organisers and reiterated the importance of sustainable energy in driving Nigeria’s development. He also expressed gratitude to partners and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the projects highlighted.

Dignitaries at the ceremony described the recognition as well-deserved, commending his commitment to public service and national development.
