Adamawa Stalwart describes Supreme Court verdict on Presidential election as a landmark judgment

The Supreme Court on Wednesday October 30th, 2019 has put to rest heated debate amongst Nigerians on legal tussle on the Presidential election by affirming the judgment of the Presidential election tribunal confirming the legitimacy of President Muhammadu Buhari as a dully elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Commenting on the judgment, a political stalwart in Adamawa state Northeast Nigeria and a traditional title holder Hon Ayuba Bamaiyi Ajiyan Lunguda has described the Supreme Court verdict as a landmark judgment in the democratic system in the history of the country.
Ajiyan Lunguda maintained that this is the first time in the history of Nigeria that the judges have painstaking on each allegation brought before the election tribunal by the PDP and its Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar challenging the election of President Buhari without any hindrance or intimidation from any quater.

“The verdict is a clear testimony of the independence of the judiciary and has also strengthened the democratic process in the country; it is also an indicator that every citizen in Nigeria has the right to seek redress in court when he felt he was cheated either politically or otherwise”. He said

Hon Ayuba while thanking God for validating the votes of the electorates through court process said the verdict has vindicated the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and affirmed that the election of President Buhari is a true reflection of the voices of the electorates.

He commended the maturity exhibited by PDP Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar by following due process through courts which calm the nerves of the party supporters rather than calling for postelection violence as was the case in other countries.

Ajiyan Lunguda called on the oppositions to bury their political differences and join hand with the government in power for development to thrive in the country and build a new Nigeria for everybody to enjoy, stressing that power comes from God and called on President Buhari to run inclusive and appoint people with integrity in his government whether they are from other political parties.

“while wishing President Buhari successful tenure of office, I want to remind supporters of other political parties that we dont have any other country than Nigeria and God wishes that Atiku Abubakar Waziri Adamawa will became a president of this country tomorrow nobody Jupiter will prevent him, so lets join hand to build Nigeria”, he added.

Hon Ayuba called on the National leadership of APC to bring those that were hurt particularly those that were denied contesting during the last elections to a round table discussion for them to contribute their quota so as to ensure successful implementation of government policies and programmes.

“APC lost to an opposition party in Adamawa state due to maltreatment meted on some members of the party and imposition of candidates through the influence of the National leadership of the party, the trend has to change for the betterment of the people”. He averred
