A cholera outbreak has been confirmed in Adamawa State, Nigeria, after 30 out of 38 samples tested positive for the disease at the National Reference Laboratory in Abuja. The state’s Commissioner of Health, Chief Felix Tangwami, made the announcement on behalf of the Governor, warning citizens to be cautious of their movements, interactions, personal hygiene, and water sources.
As of the latest report, 308 people have been admitted to health facilities, with 244 successfully treated and discharged, and 12 deaths recorded – six at health facilities and six at home. The government has assured the public that health workers are working diligently to contain the situation, as they have in the past with similar outbreaks.
