Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on Thursday chaired the State Executive Council meeting at the new Council Chamber in Government House, Yola, where the council approved projects worth over twenty-six billion naira, mainly for the construction and upgrading of major roads to boost infrastructure and drive economic growth across the state.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the council approved 3.89 billion for the construction of the 11.2-kilometre Plum Road in Michika Local Government Area and 6.59 billion for additional asphalt overlay on the Mubi Garta Kamale Road, extending it to 17.5 kilometres.
He added that the council also approved 4.43 billion for additional asphalt overlay on the 14kilometre Sukur Road in Madagali Local Government, and 3.24 billion for asphalt surfacing of the 10.3kilometre Kishinga Road. These projects, according to him, will significantly improve road connectivity and support socio economic activities in the affected areas.
Other approvals include 1.5 billion for the procurement of NPK fertilizer for dry season farming and 1.73 billion for the purchase of 22 Massey Ferguson tractors and accessories to support farmers.
The council further approved 460 million for the accreditation of nine academic programmes at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye, 256 million as the 20 percent counterpart fund for the 2025 Basic Health Care Provision, and 235.6 million as compensation for land acquired for the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.
Also ratified were 481 million for the upgrade of the Jada water supply scheme and 328.5 million for the purchase of a modern road sweeping truck to enhance environmental sanitation in the state.
The commissioner stressed that these investments will accelerate infrastructure development, improve agricultural productivity, and strengthen essential services across Adamawa State.
