The Adamawa State Planning Commission has successfully organized a two-day training capacity workshop for relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state. The workshop, which took place on Monday and Tuesday, 27th-28th January 2025, at the Conference Hall of the State Planning Commission in Yola, aimed to equip MDAs with the necessary skills to effectively implement state policies.


Dr. Mary Paninga, Executive Chairman of the State Planning Commission, expressed her gratitude to the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Honourable Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for creating an avenue for building the capacity of MDAs’ leaders. She highlighted that Adamawa State has about 10 drafted and approved policies in different sectors, which are currently being implemented, and emphasized the need for these policies to yield fruitful outcomes.

During her presentation on the Adamawa State Social Protection policy, Dr. Paninga outlined the five policy objectives, including Social Protection, Social Insurance, Labour Market Interventions, Transformative social care and complementary measures, and Establishing and strengthening social protection system. She noted that the policy aims to address the poverty rate by 15% of the current 67% by 2028, ensuring that residents of Adamawa State live in a peaceful, safe, and productive environment where the poorest and vulnerable have a sense of belonging and their dignity is protected.

Hon. Kwaji Duguri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Entrepreneurship Development, delivered an intensive presentation on the Implementation Strategies of the Adamawa State social protection Policy. The workshop concluded with participants engaging in group work, facilitated by Alhaji Hassan Modibbo, Permanent Secretary of the State Planning Commission, who encouraged them to make good use of the workshop for the development of Adamawa State.
