Adamawa State Launches Bold “Nutrition 774” Initiative to Combat Malnutrition

The Adamawa State government has inaugurated the Nutrition 774 Initiative to strengthen local governance at the grassroots level.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, while launching the partnership program between the Adamawa State Government and the Office of the Vice President, expressed his commitment to supporting the initiative to address malnutrition cases in the state.

Represented by his Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, Governor Fintiri described nutrition as a top priority for his administration in Adamawa State.

Governor Fintiri, who hailed the program as significant, commended the Office of the Vice President for the initiative.

He also stated that his administration is working diligently to boost agriculture across the 21 local government areas to combat malnutrition at the grassroots level.

Speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Health, Mrs. Uju Rochas Okorocha, praised Governor Fintiri for appointing women as vice chairpersons across the 21 local government areas, pledging her support.

In her speech, the Chairperson of the Adamawa State Planning Commission, Dr. Mary Paninga, described the program as timely, noting that it will significantly contribute to fighting malnutrition in the state through the Nutrition 774 Initiative.

Also speaking, the Chairperson of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, Adamawa State Chapter, Dr. Rita Ngozi Nwankwo, expressed delight in bringing nutrition closer to the grassroots level.

In attendance at the launch of the Nutrition 774 Initiative were chairpersons from the 21 local government areas and development partners from non-governmental organizations, all resolved to address malnutrition challenges in the state.
