The embattled State Chairman of Labor Party (LP) in Adamawa, Mr Christopher Nicholas faced fresh troubles as twenty-one Local Government area party Chairmen of the party passed a vote of no confidence on him.
The Chairmen in a letter emanated from a crucial meeting and copied to the Board of Trustee and the Abuja national headquarters, the Adamawa State security Chiefs to include the Commissioner of Police, the INEC, the Director Department of State Security Service, the Commander Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NLC, TUC Stakeholders Forum of the Labour Party and IPAC lambasted Nicholas of anti-Partyy activities from 2022 to date.
The LG Chairmen’s resolution accused Nicholas of having two membership cards of political parties (accord party and LP) and found him Wanting in managing the resources of the party for his personal use and his high-handedness led to all sorts of internal-party crisis reason for a fallout with some of the party’s stakeholders.
They alleged that Nicholas printed fake forms that were unauthorized by the national and were supposed to be free for those willing to join the party, but illegally printed in thousands and sold them without proper accounting.
The LG Chairmen lambasted him for lack of good communication and interpersonal skills suppose of a good leader for a Chairman of a respected party like LP.
“Mr. Christopher Nicholas cannot communicate effectively and coherently during meetings, since his appointment to the office of Chairman of Labour Party in Adamawa State. This has led to many internal squabbles within the executives. As a result, many founding EXCOs of the party in the state were forced to leave the party. Further demonstrating his inability to carry all party members along.
“Christopher Nicholas has shown himself to be above the party’s constitution. This has been displayed by several decisions he has taken which were independent of the provision of our party’s constitution nor the consent of the relevant stakeholders of the party.
“In the 2023 General Elections, Christopher Nicholas and his Executives were unable to coordinate the deployment of Party Agents. This resulted in the Labour Party not having agents to mount hundreds of polling units across many constituencies in the state during both Presidential and gubernatorial elections.
“Christopher Nicholas made himself be easily bought over with money, which led to the party producing a Governorship candidate that lacked popularity with the masses. We refer to the case of Alh. Mustapha Madawaki Otumba the Governorship candidate in the 2023 General election.” The letter read
According to them, they used the party’s constitution, article 18 to get state officials to get caretaker committee on action capacity relying on the appropriate action of the National Working Committee (NWC)
The new caretaker committees are;
Hon. Theman Jonah (Chairman), Apwanokona Azmaveth (Secretary), Aliyu Mohammed Abubakar (Treasurer), Henry Ibrahim Kwataden (PRO), Hajiya Zainab Isah Ahmed (Woman Leader),Kamalluddeeen Jibrillah Aliyu (Youth Leader) and Auwal Yahaya Chiroma.
“This will be in the interest of the party members and the Constitution of the Labour Party. ” They said
You would recall before now Nicholas has been facing party battles since the beginning of the 2023 election.
