The Adamawa State Police Command has dismissed as fake news, reports circulating on social media about violent clashes between Lunguda and Waja communities resulting in six deaths. In a press release signed by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer, the command described the reports as “disturbing fake news” with no iota of truth.

Instead, the command revealed that a gruesome incident occurred on September 14, 2024, where three individuals – Lazarus Bashiru, Galion Isa, and Ajasko Yakubu – were tortured and killed by a group led by Salestina Bala, a 30-year-old resident of Kwa village in Lamurde local government, who accused them of witchcraft.
The police have arrested the suspect and condemned the act in the strongest terms, emphasizing the need for social media handlers to be cautious of their posts to avoid violating laws regulating social media policies. The command remains committed to maintaining law and order in the sta te.
