Students of the University of Jos who are indigenes of Adamawa state have been evacuated back to Yola, the state capital by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The evacuation was a result of the civil unrest leading to silent killings, and security reports revealed that students of the institution are getting missing daily since the curfew imposed was reviewed by Governor Samuel Lalong this week.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was commended for the foresight by the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Adamawa State Chapter, Ambassador Ajine K. Delo through the Hon. Commissioner Youths and Sports, Hon. Aloysius A. Babadoke for evacuating the students studying in the institution following the last Sunday civil unrest the state witnessed.

Ambassador Delo said the Governor’s intervention is timely and worthy of commendation.

He noted that the unrest has caused a lot of havoc to the citizens and non-citizens of Jos, stressing that it has as well thwarted the Academic Calendar of institutions of learning in Jos.

Delo described the action of Governor Ahmadu, the Fresh Air Governor as a show of capacity, leadership ability, and his flair for securing the lives of others and prayed God to continue to see him through.

“The more you bear the burden of leadership, the more you realize that people and not things, matter the most.” This places on you the demand to place your people and their welfare at the heart of your leadership.

“Thank you, Your Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State for evacuating Adamawa State Students from the troubled Jos, Plateau State. This is the kind of leadership we desire where the lives of everyone matter the MOST to government, especially that of YOUTHS.

“The recent attacks in Plateau State, particularly in Jos North Local Government Area of the State and the closing down of the University of Jos by the school management, led to the evacuation of Adamawa State Students studying in the State. May Peace return to Jos.” Line said
