Adamawa State Surveyor General, Surv. Pwavidon Arnold Simon, has been conferred with the prestigious Epitome of Hope and Sarkin Ayuka Matasan Arewa awards by the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in a colourful ceremony held in Yola.

Described as a man of impeccable character, Arnold was praised for his unwavering values of hard work, commitment to service as a land administrator, and exceptional integrity in managing land matters in the best interest of the people of Adamawa State.
The delegation, led by the NYCN Adamawa State Coordinator, Comrade Hassan Mubi Abba, visited the Government House for the presentation. The group’s National President was represented by the National Vice President (North East), Comrade Nabil Suleiman, who extolled Arnold’s record of hard work, sincerity, and diligence as indispensable and indisputable.

In his acceptance speech, Arnold described the award as a call to greater duty to humanity and service to God. He humbly dedicated it to the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whom he acknowledged as the Chief Land Manager and the driving force behind the state’s remarkable progress.
“I am merely holding the trust on land matters for my Principal, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. I dedicate this award to him and to God in service to humanity. It is a testimony to my dream that Adamawa becomes one of the most modernised states in the country. I hold His Excellency’s trust very strongly and dear to my heart—I cannot handle it with kid gloves,” he said.
He further noted that the award serves as a powerful reminder to do even more. “This moment remains indelible in my life. It is a call to serve humanity, which is the essence of being alive and a senior civil servant. Under the watchful eyes of Fintiri, I remain grateful to him and the people of Adamawa State for the trust bestowed upon me. I believe that supporting His Excellency in all angles will enable me to do more for our people,” he added.
While reading the President’s speech, Comrade Nabil Suleiman stated that Arnold was honoured with a two-star Aluta General emblem for demonstrating that public office can be a place of true leadership. He explained that NYCN’s mission is to promote good governance and leadership rooted in the ideals of their founding fathers, and Arnold was found eminently qualified among many.

“The award is more of a motivation for greater impact as the Epitome of Hope and Sarkin Ayuka Matasan Arewa. We have realised that tribal and religious divisions have often been used to divide rather than unite us.
However, with leaders like Arnold, we are determined to ensure the labour of our forefathers does not go in vain. Nigeria will be better, Adamawa State will become the pride of the nation, and its citizens will rejoice,” Nabil declared.
In her citation, Comrade Asama’u Bello, NYCN’s Chief Liaison Officer in the Adamawa State Chapter, highlighted Arnold’s outstanding qualifications, character, career success, educational achievements, and public endorsement as one of the best Surveyor Generals Adamawa has ever produced.
She noted that as a PhD student, he is equipping himself with the requisite knowledge to serve the state effectively in modern land management, surveying, and geo-informatics.
The turbaning ceremony as Sarkin Ayuka Matasan Arewa was marked by an electrifying atmosphere, with chants of “Ranka shi dade” (may he live long) echoing in praise of this exemplary leader.
