The Adamawa state Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) refuted a report trended some few weeks ago in some quarter of the media that Teacher by name Nathan Yusuf has raped a school girl in Namtari village of Yola South of the state.
The Chairman of the Union in the state, comrade Rodney Nathan responding to our correslondent at the union secretariat in Yola made efforts to clear the air that the media,Adamawa Police command and,Nigerian security and Civil defence Corps (NSCDC) didn’t do a thorough investigation before going to the press.
Comrade Rodney revealed that the relationship between the Teacher in Adamawa state and a school girl is a known relation to parent of the girl and the society (Namtari) at large.
According to him as at the time of Mr Yusuf arrest the keys to his room are with the girl in question,suggesting that the duo are consciously into mutual and agreed relation between them.
While condeming the crime in tutor and vow to decisively deal with any teacher found in this kind of act,he enciurage concern to allow the rule law fight the social menace becoming the order of the day.
He however questioned that where has it become a rape of a known relationship that the girl and the school Teacher are mutually in love?
He revealed that NUT through a panel of investigation and inquiry formed to investigate the matter, their report has shown that the school girl is a government Secondary school (GSS) three students while Nathan is a primary school Teacher in Namtari.
He further said that NUT investigation committee’s reports revealed that the school girl is discovered to carry six months pregnancy an indication of Long term existence relationship.
He opined a question to know that the at what point the rape of the minor took place? Is it six months ago or now that it’s discovered she is with six months pregnancy to accused the Teacher of rapid her?
Comrade Rodney blamed the parent of the Minor for encouraging the relationship, as it was reported that the accused teacher is always in her House and her parents aware of the relationship.
You may wish to recall that few weeks ago a report was carried that a 12-yr-old schoolgirl who was raped by her teacher in Namtari, Yola South local government of Adamawa State has been confirmed to be pregnant.
