In a transformative move to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative, the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRBDA) has announced a strategic partnership with Green Vile CNG.

This collaboration aims to make affordable, eco-friendly CNG accessible for industrial, domestic, and transportation use, mitigating the economic impact of fuel subsidy removal across Nigeria’s Northeast.

Leading the charge is Dr. Mahmud Sanusi Mohammed, FMSS, the dynamic Managing Director and CEO of UBRBDA, whose innovative leadership is redefining governance and youth empowerment in the region.

UBRBDA is committed to ensuring CNG is within reach of the common man at affordable prices

Dr. Mahmud, a staunch advocate of President Tinubu’s economic policies, described the CNG initiative as “a child born of necessity” to alleviate the hardships caused by subsidy removal.

“As a grassroots agency, UBRBDA is committed to ensuring CNG is within reach of the common man at affordable prices,” he declared, emphasizing the agency’s alignment with Tinubu’s vision for a vibrant, inclusive economy.

Dr. Mahmud’s tour of the Green Vile CNG facility, guided by the company’s coordinator, Mr. Chris Nathaniel, showcased his hands-on approach.

Inspecting CNG-powered tricycles and various operational segments, Mahmud expressed confidence that the initiative would drive down the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

“President Tinubu’s administration is deploying every strategy to ensure Nigerians feel the positive impact of his policies,” he affirmed, predicting a surge in economic activity as CNG adoption grows.

His optimism and strategic foresight have positioned UBRBDA as a catalyst for regional development, earning him accolades as a transformative leader.

Mr. Chris Nathaniel, Green Vile CNG’s coordinator, is the driving force behind this groundbreaking project, earning praise for his relentless commitment to sustainable energy.

During the tour, Nathaniel outlined ambitious plans to onboard experts who will convert vehicles—government, private, and corporate—from PMS to dual-purpose CNG and PMS systems.

“CNG is a game-changer: it’s cheaper, longer-lasting, and environmentally friendly,” he enthused, highlighting its economic and ecological benefits for the masses.

Nathaniel announced that the Green Vile CNG station, located along Yola-Gombe Road, is set for commissioning by Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on May 27, 2025.

He assured Northeast residents of consistent CNG availability with effective price controls, reinforcing Green Vile’s mission to democratize access to clean energy. Nathaniel’s visionary leadership and technical expertise are steering Adamawa toward a greener, more prosperous future, making him a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s energy transition.

The UBRBDA-Green Vile CNG partnership aligns with President Tinubu’s Presidential CNG Initiative, launched in August 2023 to ease the economic strain of fuel subsidy removal.

By promoting CNG as a viable alternative to petrol, the collaboration supports Tinubu’s goal of reducing energy costs and fostering job creation through local manufacturing and vehicle conversion programs. Dr. Mahmud urged Nigerians to remain patient, expressing confidence that the initiative will spur economic growth and stabilize fuel prices.

As Adamawa prepares for the CNG station’s launch, the synergy between Dr. Mahmud’s strategic leadership and Nathaniel’s operational excellence promises to deliver tangible benefits.

This partnership not only advances Tinubu’s economic reforms but also positions the Northeast as a hub for sustainable development. With the commissioning date approaching, residents eagerly await a new era of affordable energy and economic empowerment.
