The Concerned Adamawa Youths have strongly condemned what they describe as selfish and alarmist reactions from certain Abuja-based politicians to speculation surrounding Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s possible defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a press briefing held today, the group addressed growing media reports and social media claims about the governor’s rumored switch, amid intensified political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. They singled out Alhaji Abdurahman Buba Kwacham for criticism, accusing him of raising false alarms and claiming undue influence over Adamawa politics despite never winning an election in the state.

“Politics should never be reduced to personal ownership or territorial control as claimed by some Abuja politicians who always stand for their selfish interests at the detriment of the state,” the statement read.

The youths emphasized that Governor Fintiri’s decisions have always prioritized the development, stability, and prosperity of Adamawa State, including potential alignment with federal structures under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to attract greater resources, improve security coordination, and accelerate infrastructure and youth empowerment initiatives.

They highlighted the governor’s visible achievements in infrastructure renewal, educational reforms, civil service restructuring, and youth engagement, arguing that any strategic realignment would build on these legacies to foster stronger federal partnerships.

“Internal democracy and due process must be respected, but resistance rooted in fear of change or loss of influence should not overshadow the larger interest of the state,” the group stated.

The briefing stressed the need for political maturity as the 2027 elections approach, calling for inclusive dialogue and leadership that transcends division. They outlined key priorities any political move must serve: Youth empowerment and job creation; Security and social stability; Infrastructure expansion; Educational advancement; Economic growth and investment attraction

“Our loyalty is to Adamawa State, not to political acrimony,” the youths declared. They urged all leaders to avoid inflammatory statements that could heighten tension and instead rally behind Governor Fintiri for his commitment to the state’s development.

The group described the governor as a model of purposeful leadership and progress, contrasting him with critics “who stayed in Abuja claiming they own Adamawa while they could not control even their family members.”

The Concerned Adamawa Youths concluded by reaffirming support for peace, progress, and the ongoing development trajectory under Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, while praying for God’s blessings on the state.
