Adamawa based political commentator, Emmanuel Philip Tumba, has described the state’s emergence as the fourth best-performing state in Nigeria in the 2025 State Performance Index (pSPI) as a clear reflection of seven years of deliberate and people-centered governance under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Reacting to the ranking released by Phillips Consulting, Tumba said the recognition was a significant validation of the developmental strides recorded by the Fintiri administration since assuming office.
According to the report, Adamawa State earned a four-star rating and ranked fourth nationwide based on key performance indicators including infrastructure development, fiscal responsibility, service delivery, transparency, and citizens’ perception of government performance.
Tumba noted that the achievement was not accidental but the result of strategic planning, prudent management of public resources, and a sustained commitment to improving the living conditions of residents across the state.
He highlighted the administration’s investments in road construction, urban renewal, education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, rural development, and security as major factors contributing to the state’s improved performance and national recognition.
“Adamawa’s emergence as the fourth best-performing state in Nigeria is what seven years of deliberate governance looks like. It is a testament to visionary leadership, accountability, and a clear focus on delivering results for the people,” Tumba stated.
He observed that communities previously cut off by poor infrastructure have been reconnected through road projects, while schools and healthcare facilities have undergone extensive rehabilitation and upgrades. He also pointed to government interventions in agriculture and rural development as measures that have boosted economic activities and improved livelihoods.
Tumba emphasized that the ranking carries greater significance because it was based on objective and measurable indicators, including audited financial reports, fiscal sustainability, infrastructure delivery, and service outcomes.
According to him, the report confirms that Adamawa’s progress is backed by verifiable achievements rather than perception alone.
He commended Governor Fintiri for what he described as his vision, courage, and unwavering dedication to building a modern and prosperous state, adding that the administration has demonstrated that meaningful development is achievable through transparency, discipline, and effective leadership.
While acknowledging that more work remains to be done, Tumba urged residents to take pride in the achievement and continue supporting policies and initiatives aimed at sustaining growth and development.
He congratulated Governor Fintiri, the state government, and the people of Adamawa on the recognition, expressing confidence that the state would continue its upward trajectory.
“The journey continues, but the results so far speak for themselves. Adamawa is rising, and the nation is taking notice,” he said.
