In a powerful display of solidarity ahead of the 2027 general elections, key governorship aspirants and major stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State have unanimously committed to burying past differences and rallying behind whoever emerges as the party’s governorship candidate in the upcoming primaries.

The resolution came during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting convened to galvanize the party’s 21 Local Government Area steering committees for an aggressive Membership Mobilisation, Revitalisation, and Registration (MMRR) drive.

The gathering emphasized building a robust grassroots structure capable of propelling the ADC to victory in the state.

The meeting, held in Yola, featured an impressive lineup of political heavyweights, including His Excellency, Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow (former Governor of Adamawa State), Ambassador Omar Sulaiman (Umurana), Senator Ishaku Abbo, Senator Abdul’Aziz Nyako, Alhaji Musa Halilu Ahmed (Dujima Adamawa), Hon. Modibbo, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya Sudi, and other prominent dignitaries.

In their individual remarks, the leaders passionately advocated for party unity, urging all members to prioritize the ADC’s growth over personal ambitions.

They agreed to set aside any grievances or rivalries post-primaries and fully support the flagbearer, declaring: “Anyone that gets the Guber ticket, we will work for him.”

This pledge is seen as a strategic move to prevent the kind of internal divisions that have historically weakened opposition parties in the state.

Under the leadership of the ADC Transitional Committee Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sadiq Dasin, the meeting focused on the MMRR agenda, with calls for local government leaders to target millions of new members. Discussions also centered on strategic funding for the membership registration exercise, set to begin in the coming weeks.

A highlight of the session was the remarkable show of financial commitment to the party’s transition and mobilization efforts. The following contributions were announced: Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow – ₦30 million; Ambassador Umar Sulaiman (Umurana) – ₦20 million; Hon. Modibbo – ₦20 million; Alhaji Musa Halilu Ahmed (Dujima Adamawa) – ₦10 million; Senator Ishaku Abbo – ₦10 million

The total pledged support reached ₦93 million, underscoring the leaders’ serious investment in repositioning the ADC as a formidable force in Adamawa politics.

Senator Bindow, speaking at the event, expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency, Former Vice President of Nigeria and Waziri Adamawa, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, for his ongoing guidance and support in bolstering the ADC both in Adamawa and nationally. The stakeholders collectively reaffirmed their loyalty to Atiku’s leadership and the party’s growth.

Ambassador Umar Sulaiman (Umurana), who led the proceedings, thanked all ADC leaders for their sacrifices and steadfast commitment.

Rt. Hon. Sadiq Dasin commended the gathering’s unity and resolve, calling it a “major step toward building a formidable and united ADC” ready for future electoral battles.

The meeting concluded on an upbeat and cordial note, with participants expressing optimism about the party’s prospects.

As the ADC intensifies its nationwide membership drive—aligned with the party’s 90-day MMRR initiative and upcoming congresses—the Adamawa chapter’s show of cohesion signals a renewed push to challenge the status quo and deliver on promises of inclusive, people-centered governance in the state.
