The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has moved swiftly to dispel rumors and misinformation surrounding the selection of its candidate for the upcoming 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
In an official statement released earlier today, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, reaffirmed that the ADC has not endorsed or “picked” any candidate, emphasizing that the party’s ticket remains open to all eligible aspirants.
The clarification comes in response to circulating videos and social media posts claiming that the ADC had already selected a candidate ahead of the primaries. Abdullahi described these claims as “false” and urged the public to disregard them.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the ADC remains committed to the highest standards of internal democracy, anchored on a free, fair, and transparent electoral process,” he stated.
The party has released a detailed timetable for the conduct of its primaries, which has been widely publicized, according to Abdullahi. He called on all aspirants to adhere strictly to the guidelines outlined in the schedule.
This move underscores the ADC’s efforts to ensure a credible and inclusive selection process as it prepares to field a candidate for the highly anticipated 2026 governorship race in Osun State.
The statement aligns with earlier remarks made by Abdullahi on November 30, 2025, where he reiterated that the ADC does not hand-pick candidates and that no individual has been pre-selected ahead of the primary process.
