A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Barr. Kelechi Ubani, has called on members of the party to close ranks ahead of the 2023 general elections.

He said with the successful inauguration of the new chairman of the party in the state, Chief Emeka Beke, what should be paramount to all members is to support him to succeed in his assignment.

Ubani, a former Caretaker Chairman of Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, also urged all party faithfuls to bury all forms of acrimony for the sake of the future of the party.

He stated that the APC in the state cannot continue to play second fiddle, adding that the division and all the leadership crisis that has rocked it for sometime should be a thing of the past, especially now that a formal inauguration of the new chairman and executives have been done.

While congratulating Chief Beke on his successful inauguration as the state chairman, Ubani commended the National Caretaker Committee of the party led by Mai Mala Buni for the steps it has taken to end the rift within the APC.

He also lauded the leader of the party in the state and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, for tirelessly working to keep the party in the state as one family and expressed optimisim that better days are ahead for the Rivers APC.

“The successful inauguration of Chief Bake is an indication that the last State Congress was transparent, free, fair and credible contrary to what a few people had alleged.

“We need to now move on by putting together our individual differences for the collective interest of the party. I commend the national executives for what they have done and our leader the Minister of Transportation for providing the right and needed leadership”, Ubani said.

The APC chieftain added that the National convention scheduled for February 26, 2023 will eventually kick start electioneering activities of the party for the coming elections.
