Ajayi Refutes Claims On ‘Allah’ Ban In RCCG Services

The Pastor in Charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Taraba Province, Pastor Samuel Ajayi, has debunked reports suggesting that the church barred its members from using the word ‘Allah’ during worship services.

Pastor Ajayi gave the clarification on Sunday while addressing the congregation during the Seek and Find service at the Elshaddai Provincial Headquarters, Mayo-Goy in Jalingo, Taraba State.

According to him, there was no time he instructed members to substitute the term ‘Allah’ with ‘Ubangiji’, describing the reports as a misrepresentation of his position.

“I have not instructed anyone to stop using Allah at any point. The use of Allah predates the advent of Christianity in Northern Nigeria, and it is widely accepted in local languages as a reference to the Supreme God,” he said.

Ajayi explained that while some individuals may interpret the term differently, in the Northern Nigerian context, Allah has been historically used to signify the Almighty God, even among Christians.

“I want to clear the misconception and misunderstanding. It should be clearly stated that at no point have I banned worshippers from using Allah as a reference for Ubangiji,” he said.

The cleric urged the public to disregard the misinformation and called for religious tolerance and understanding, emphasizing that such misinterpretations could lead to unnecessary tension within the Christian community and the broader society.
