Following discovery of COVID-19 in Yola-south,Hong and Mubi-North Local government areas of Adamawa State, the Association of Local Governments in the state has taken massive grassroot public enlightenment on the dangers of the global pandemic.
The ALGON observed that the recent COVID-19 discoveries is through community-transmissions hence the activation of grassroot public awareness mechanisms through community leaders, Religious and House-to-House enlightenment.
The ALGON Chairman in Adamawa State, Alhaji Jingi Rufai in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola said, all local government Chairmen across the state have set the ball-rolling through constitution of task-force in each council to support Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in his bid to rid the state out of CORONA VIRUS.
The strategy is to adequately enforced safety measures like compulsory use of facemasks,usage of sanitizers and Social distancing as well as avoiding large gathering either naming ceremonies or burials which is being practice at rural areas.
Jingi Rufai emphasized that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri should not be left alone hence the decision of local Governments to intensify efforts.
He however, called for cooperation among the rural populace in supporting all local government Chairmen across Adamawa State.
