Ambassador Omar Suleiman, popularly known as Omarana, has officially declared his intention to contest for the governorship of Adamawa State under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He promised inclusive governance, improved education, and strengthened security if elected.

The declaration event, which drew supporters and stakeholders from all 21 Local Government Areas of the state, was attended by party members, political associates, community leaders, women groups, youth representatives, and enthusiastic supporters who came out in large numbers to endorse his aspiration.
In his declaration speech, Hon. Suleiman expressed profound gratitude to his family and supporters for their unwavering encouragement and sacrifices throughout his political journey.
“Without you, I wouldn’t be here,” he said, acknowledging the steadfast support of his family and close associates.
He gave special recognition to his longtime associate, Engr. Ahmad Suleiman, who travelled from Jigawa State to Adamawa to grace the occasion.
Hon. Suleiman also extended appreciation to His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, describing him as a respected political figure in Adamawa under the ADC platform.
He equally thanked Tubabatul Nawa and other key ADC stakeholders, whom he described as pillars of the party, for their commitment and sacrifices towards building a strong political movement in the state.
The governorship aspirant further acknowledged key members of his campaign team, including Hajiya Fatima Yawale, Hon. Zayyad Ayuba, Alhaji Sa’idu, Alhaji Abubakar Turaki, and Hon. Abdulmumin Mapindi, among others, for their dedication and support.
Outlining his vision, Suleiman highlighted key priorities of his prospective administration.
“I am contesting for the governorship of Adamawa State with the intention of improving educational standards and creating an enabling environment where schools can function effectively,” he stated.
He emphasised that education would remain a top priority, noting that quality education is essential for the overall development of the state.
The aspirant also pledged to prioritise women’s inclusion in governance, stressing that women are among the most affected by socio-economic challenges and deserve greater opportunities in leadership and decision-making.
On security, Hon. Suleiman acknowledged the impact of insurgency and insecurity on communities, promising to tackle these challenges head-on.
“I see the problems of insurgency troubling our country and state, and I believe Adamawa will not remain behind in making progress,” he said.
He vowed to collaborate with stakeholders and communities to restore lasting peace and accelerate development across the state.
Suleiman also pledged to build on the developmental legacies of past leaders, particularly former Governor Hon. Murtala Nyako, with the aim of advancing initiatives that positively impact the lives of citizens.
The event featured strong endorsements from various support groups, including the Funtua Movement 774, whose members publicly declared their support for his candidacy.
Political observers described the declaration as a significant development in Adamawa’s political landscape as preparations for the governorship race intensify.
Hon. Suleiman concluded by calling on party members, youths, women, traditional rulers, and all citizens of Adamawa State to unite behind a shared vision of progress, development, and inclusive governance.
