Aminu Gusau Predicts APC’s Return to Power in Zamfara 2027, Cites Gov Lawal’s Failed Policies

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is gaining significant momentum in Zamfara State, positioning itself to wrest control from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 elections, according to public affairs analyst and social media commentator Aminu Gusau.

Gusau attributes this shift to what he describes as Governor Dauda Lawal’s “anti-people policies,” which he claims have failed to address the state’s pressing challenges.

In a scathing critique, Gusau accused Governor Lawal of mismanaging Zamfara’s resources and failing to meet the expectations of citizens grappling with insecurity and economic hardship.

Gusau alleged that the state has accumulated substantial loans under Lawal’s administration, despite the governor’s touted banking expertise.

“His experience in the banking sector has done little to salvage Zamfara from its current poverty index,” he said, accusing the administration of prioritizing physical infrastructure projects for personal gain through “kickbacks” rather than focusing on the welfare of citizens.

Further, Gusau criticized the government for engaging foreign contractors for infrastructure projects, sidelining local indigenes and inflating project costs. “The few projects undertaken cost billions, yet their quality raises questions even a blind person could see,” he remarked.

He accused Lawal of using media propaganda and the state’s insecurity challenges as a cover for questionable governance practices.

“The people of Zamfara are tired of Dauda’s leadership. He has cobwebbed the masses with empty promises and claims to know it all, dismissing advice,” Gusau said.

He urged residents to safeguard their voter’s cards and prepare to “send him packing” in 2027, asserting that the APC, bolstered by influential figures like Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, remains a formidable force capable of dislodging the PDP.

Gusau called on the Lawal administration to foster stronger ties with the masses through people-oriented policies and inclusive projects that prioritize human development.

“The APC is still strong and competent. Without leaders like Yari, Dauda wouldn’t even be governor today,” he added.

Efforts to reach Governor Lawal’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Sulaiman Bala Idris, for a response were unsuccessful, as his phone went unanswered despite repeated attempts over several days.

As the 2027 elections loom, Gusau’s remarks reflect growing discontent in Zamfara, setting the stage for a heated political battle between the APC and PDP in the state.
