Anambra guber: Charles Soludo wins 10 of 11 LGAs officially declared

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has won 10 out of 11 local government areas where results have been collated and announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Anambra State.

This came as the commission started collating the results from the local government areas of the state after Saturday’s election.

The remaining one local government area of the 11 so far declared was won by the candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

Soludo won in these local government areas – Dunukofia, Awka South, Oyi, Ayamelum, Anaocha, Anambra East, Idemili South, Onitsha South and Njikoka.

Ubah won in Nnewi North, where he hails from.

Meanwhile, the former governor of the state, Peter Obi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as well as the chairman of the PDP campaign council, Senator Uche Ekwunife lost Anaocha Local Government where they hail from to Soludo, the APGA candidate.

Also, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress, APC, lost his Idemili South Local Government to APGA.

Like Ngige, the state deputy governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, who dumped APGA for APC before the election lost his Njikoka Local Government Area to APGA.

As of the time this report was filed, INEC has gone on break to return later in the day to continue with the declaration of the results.
