The attack came during the Anambra State governorship supplementary election in the area.
The gunmen, it was learnt, were trying to enter Ihiala through Imo State but were resisted by the joint security operatives at Mbosi and Orsumoghu, which are border towns with communities in Imo State.
The gunmen said to be members of Eastern Security Network, and the security operatives, engaged in the gun duel for about three hours.
