The victory of Comrade Mustapha Salihu as the Vice Chairman, North East of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) is as a result of some people stepping down for others for the sake of party loyalty and norms to be sustained.
Dr Umar Duhu who was among many aspirants vying for the position presently occupies by Mustapha Said his stepping down was a hard decision that he took when Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa state melt down his heart by saying:
“Your my half Brother, and if you do not mount the Podium and announce your withdrawal from the Contest, i will gladly do so on your behalf.”
According to him Governor Bindow could have gone ahead and announced his withdrawal from the contest and it stands.
This he said is a secret he preserved for a while and should be made known Governor Bindow is truly his half brother whom, the bond of love and understanding they shared as toddlers and kindergarten in brotherhood still exist.
Duhu in a press statement said he took a firm decision to go into the contest after been persuaded by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Barr Boss Mustapha,Fmr Hon. Minister of Defence and several Notable Leaders from Adamawa State and beyond,to step down from the contest where he declined at First before the commencement of voting.
“At first, I declined their quest. But, after a deep reflection and as an ardent believer that, God The Almighty alone gives Power at the Time He Appoints and Wills, I later reconsider their request, even though I was still little hesitant.” Duhu said
“I wept profusely like a little child simply because I felt pained to step down at that juncture after I had already done my homework, spent my resources and I was also sure of victory but had to submit for my Friend and Brother (Mustapha) to have an edge.
Umar an ardent believer basing his reasons of withdrawal as Power is from God and Only He Gives to who He wills, he step down for the special respect is having for Governor Bindow and all others that, persuaded him to step down.
Being a pioneer Member of the party from the North East and the Pioneer National Vice Chairman – North East of the Party,Duhu Said he can only be a part of strengthening it,and he will never be a part of the folks who would want it disintegrate and get it destroyed hence his Major decision to step down.
He further said Governor Bindow has given him much honour by consulting him and he is therefore humbled to his kneea by that singular. He pray that, his stepping down will further strengthen the unity, cohesion and the needed resolve to take Adamawa State to the next enviable stride.
He reminded all party stakeholders at national and state level to know that this is his third Time he has been denied the opportunity to ascend this position which he was the bridge to bring APC and registered the present Government into the Party in 2014.
He also pray that Comrade Mustapha Salihu will be magnanimous in victory and succeed in his responsibilities.
