In a significant development, governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole candidate of the party for the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement was made at the APC National Summit held at the Presidential Villa, where Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, announced the decision. The motion was moved by Uzodimma and seconded by Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, and was unanimously adopted by the gathering.
Although President Tinubu is still in the middle of his first term, discussions about his re-election have been dominating the polity. The APC governors’ endorsement is seen as a boost to Tinubu’s ambitions for a second term in office.
The development is expected to shape the party’s dynamics and set the stage for the 2027 presidential election.
