As Muslims across Nigeria celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, PhD, National Vice Chairman (North-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on Nigerians to embody the values of obedience, compassion, and unity during this sacred season.

In a heartfelt Sallah message, Salihu urged citizens to translate the spiritual lessons of Eid into actions that foster peace, justice, and national progress, while rallying support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In his address, Salihu extended warm greetings to Muslims in the North-East, Nigeria, and beyond, emphasizing the significance of Eid-el-Kabir as a reminder of faith, sacrifice, and love for one another. “This sacred celebration calls us to embrace the enduring values of obedience, compassion, and service to humanity,” he said, encouraging Nigerians to reflect on Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice for Allah.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by the North-East, including insecurity, economic hardship, and social dislocation inherited from past administrations, Salihu praised the region’s resilience.
“We have shown unity and an unwavering belief in the future of our communities and our country,” he noted, urging citizens to use the Sallah season to strengthen hope and deepen their sense of responsibility.
Salihu called on Nigerians to back President Tinubu’s administration, describing the Renewed Hope Agenda as a deliberate plan to rebuild the economy, create opportunities, and position Nigeria as a global leader.

“Though the reforms are demanding, they are necessary and already beginning to yield results,” he said, urging patience and collective support to ensure their success.
He also commended National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for his leadership in improving Nigeria’s security architecture. “His tireless efforts have brought renewed coordination, intelligence, and calmness, particularly in the North-East, where peace and stability are gradually returning,” Salihu said, calling for sustained support for Ribadu’s initiatives.

The APC leader urged Nigerians to care for the vulnerable, forgive past grievances, and give generously during the festive season. “Let us allow this occasion to draw us closer, regardless of our faith, region, or political differences,” he said, emphasizing the need for unity in a diverse nation.
Salihu appealed for moderation during celebrations, encouraging Nigerians to celebrate in ways that strengthen unity and uphold shared values. He expressed gratitude to traditional institutions, religious leaders, youth, women, and grassroots actors for their roles in community development, peacebuilding, and national integration.

In a special tribute, Salihu saluted Nigeria’s security officers, many of whom are spending Eid-el-Kabir on the frontlines to ensure public safety. “Their sacrifices must never be taken for granted,” he said, calling for prayers for their protection and success.
Salihu concluded his message with prayers for healing, peace, and blessings across Nigeria. “May Almighty Allah accept our prayers, reward our sacrifices, and continue to guide our leaders aright,” he said, wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir.
Eid-el-Kabir, one of Islam’s holiest celebrations, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah and is marked by prayers, charity, and communal feasting. In Nigeria, the festival comes amid economic challenges, including inflation and currency depreciation, which have strained households.

The North-East, in particular, has faced years of insecurity due to insurgency, though recent efforts have restored relative calm to parts of the region.
Salihu’s message resonates with Nigerians navigating these challenges, offering a call for unity and collective action to support national progress. By emphasizing sacrifice and compassion, he encourages citizens to contribute to a stronger, more inclusive Nigeria.
As Nigerians celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, Salihu’s call for unity, sacrifice, and support for national reforms sets a tone of hope and collective responsibility. Whether through prayers, charity, or community engagement, the APC leader’s message underscores the power of shared values to build a better Nigeria.
Eid Mubarak to all Nigerians.
