The event, held shortly after the conclusion of the APC’s 8th National Convention at Eagle Square, formally ratified the leadership elected through a consensus arrangement during the high-profile gathering that drew over 8,000 delegates from across Nigeria.

The certificates were presented by the APC 2026 National Convention Committee, chaired by Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari (former Governor of Katsina State and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives).

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni served as Secretary of the committee, with other notable members including former Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

The ceremony marks the official endorsement of the NWC following the convention’s smooth proceedings, where Prof. Yilwatda was returned as National Chairman and Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru as National Secretary, among other key positions filled largely by consensus.

Speaking after receiving the certificate, Prof. Yilwatda and the NWC members expressed profound gratitude to the convention committee for delivering a transparent, orderly, and hitch-free process.

They described the convention and subsequent ratification as “a powerful demonstration of unity, cohesion, and the APC’s unshakeable readiness” for the critical political engagements ahead, particularly as the party gears up for future electoral battles.

The 2026 National Convention, held on March 27–28, 2026, was widely praised for its disciplined atmosphere and focus on renewal, with stakeholders highlighting the party’s strengthened internal structures and collective commitment to national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

This development further consolidates the APC’s position as Nigeria’s ruling party, signaling stability and strategic alignment as it prepares for the next phase of governance and political mobilization.
