APC NE Leaders Rally Unity in Adamawa as Mustapha Salihu, Yusuf Buba Engage Hong, Gombi Stakeholders

In a bold move to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, the party’s National Vice Chairman (North-East), Comrade Mustapha Salihu, PhD, Eq (Sa’i Adamawa), and Chairman of the Central Zone Committee, Hon. Yusuf Capt Buba, convened a high-stakes meeting with stakeholders and party executives from Hong and Gombi Local Government Areas (LGAs) on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

The gathering, aimed at fostering unity and strategizing for the 2027 elections, underscored the party’s renewed focus on grassroots mobilization and reconciliation.

The meeting, held in Yola, saw the attendance of key figures, including members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly from the Central Zone and the APC State Chairman, Barr. Idris Shuaibu.

Other prominent party stakeholders were also present, signaling a concerted effort to mend internal rifts and reposition the APC for electoral success following setbacks in previous governorship elections.

Comrade Mustapha Salihu, a seasoned politician and peacebuilder in Adamawa, emphasized the importance of unity, urging party members to prioritize cohesion and collective goals.

“This is a new dawn for the APC in Adamawa. Our focus is on genuine reconciliation and building a united front to deliver on the promises of good governance,” Salihu said, referencing the recent success of the reconciliation committee spearheaded by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

Hon. Yusuf Capt Buba, representing the Hong/Gombi constituency, commended the stakeholders for their commitment and highlighted the need for inclusive leadership.

The APC State Chairman, Barr. Idris Shuaibu, praised the leadership of Salihu and Buba, noting that their efforts align with the party’s national agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He called on party members to sustain the momentum and engage communities to bolster support ahead of 2027.

The meeting comes on the heels of recent controversies, including a disrupted North-East stakeholders’ meeting in Gombe, where Salihu faced backlash for omitting Vice President Kashim Shettima in a speech endorsing President Tinubu’s second term.

Despite the incident, party leaders moved swiftly to restore calm, with Deputy National Chairman (North), Alhaji Bukar Dalori, issuing a joint endorsement of both Tinubu and Shettima.

Stakeholders in Hong and Gombi expressed optimism about the party’s future, citing initiatives like Salihu’s donation of a 20-room duplex complex as the new APC Secretariat in Adamawa as evidence of his commitment to the party’s growth.

As the APC intensifies efforts to unify its ranks, all eyes are on Adamawa as a critical battleground for the ruling party’s ambitions in 2027.
