APC Postpones State, Local Government, Ward Congresses in Adamawa State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially postponed the scheduled State, Local Government, and Ward Congresses in Adamawa State.

In a letter dated February 17, 2024, addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru Ph.D., BL, informed INEC of the postponement.

The letter, marked APC/NHDQ/INEC/ADMWA/01/26 and titled “NOTICE OF POSTPONEMENT OF STATE, LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND WARD CONGRESSES IN ADAMAWA STATE,” states: “We write to inform you of the postponement of the State, Local Government and Ward Congresses for Adamawa State. A new date will be communicated to you in due course.”

The document was received by INEC’s office on February 17, 2026, as indicated by the official stamp and signature.

This development comes amid the APC’s ongoing preparations for nationwide congresses, which are part of the party’s activities leading toward its national convention and ahead of future elections. The party has previously adjusted schedules for membership registration and congresses in various states due to logistical, financial, or preparatory reasons.

No specific reason for the Adamawa postponement was detailed in the letter, and a fresh date is expected to be announced soon.

The APC remains Nigeria’s ruling party, and such congresses are key to electing party executives at various levels.
