APC Primary Crisis Escalates: Aspirant Slams Governor Fintiri Over “Inexperienced Politicians” Remark

Fresh controversy has engulfed the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary for the Demsa, Numan and Lamurde Federal Constituency, as aspirant Usoko Ken Supule sharply criticised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s comments on aggrieved candidates.

Governor Fintiri had reportedly described some aspirants challenging the outcome of the primary as “inexperienced politicians,” a remark that has drawn strong reactions from party members and stakeholders in the constituency.

In a strongly worded open letter circulated to journalists, Supule faulted the governor’s position and questioned the depth of internal democracy within the Adamawa APC. He urged the governor to uphold the same democratic principles that enabled young and emerging politicians, including himself in the past, to participate fairly in the political process.

“You were once a first-time aspirant,” Supule reminded Governor Fintiri, arguing that fairness and transparency should not be sacrificed for political convenience. He warned that replacing democratic elections with “selection and imposition” risks eroding public trust in the party and discouraging youth participation in politics.

“The process we normalize today becomes the standard our children will inherit,” Supule stated.

The aspirant further noted that Governor Fintiri had benefited from a political environment rooted in credible participation and now bears the responsibility to protect that legacy rather than undermine it. He expressed hope that the governor would be remembered as a leader who strengthened the APC, not one who weakened it from within.

While expressing disappointment over the conduct of the primary in Demsa, Numan and Lamurde Federal Constituency, Supule reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and peaceful political engagement. He called on party leaders to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants, irrespective of influence or connections.

The primary election in the constituency has continued to generate heated debate, with allegations of irregularities and claims that the outcome did not reflect the true wishes of party members.

The escalating dispute highlights growing tensions within the Adamawa APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, as questions over internal democracy and candidate selection persist.
