The donation comes in response to escalating insurgent activities in the region, particularly in Garaha District, where Dabna and Banga have faced repeated assaults. During a visit to the affected communities, Salihu assured residents that President Bola Tinubu is intensifying efforts to ensure national security and expose elements fueling insecurity across the country.

Addressing the community, Salihu emphasized the critical role of local vigilantes and security operatives in combating insurgency.

Your sacrifices are invaluable, and we are committed to ensuring you are well-supported

He pledged to explore sustainable measures, including a monthly honorarium, to support their welfare and enhance their operational effectiveness. “Your sacrifices are invaluable, and we are committed to ensuring you are well-supported,” he said.

The donation is part of Salihu’s ongoing efforts to aid vulnerable communities in Adamawa, following his recent distributions of food items and scholarships to thousands in the state. Residents of Garaha District, still reeling from the attacks, expressed gratitude for the support, urging the government to establish a military base in the area to deter future incursions, a call echoed in previous appeals after a 2021 attack.

Security agencies have been deployed to the region to curb the threat, with the Adamawa State Police Command condemning the attacks and reinforcing patrols. However, locals remain apprehensive, citing the proximity of Dabna and Banga to the Sambisa Forest, a known Boko Haram stronghold.

Salihu’s intervention has sparked hope, but community leaders stress the need for long-term solutions to restore peace and stability in Hong Local Government Area.
