Amidst widespread speculation about Senator Ishaku Abbo’s plans to convert to Islam, citing persecution and hatred from Christian youths in Adamawa state, the Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Panti Filibus, paid a visit to the Senator at his Abuja residence.
The visit comes after Senator Abbo posted a cryptic message on Facebook, simply stating “ISLAM”, which generated over 5,000 comments and hundreds of shares, with many Muslims urging him to join the faith.
According to Dr. Stacy Ishaku Abbo, the Senator’s wife, the LCCN leadership and Archbishop Filibus have been a source of comfort and support during this challenging time.
Public commentator Jared Janar Jampeda noted that Senator Abbo has faced opposition from Christian youths despite his efforts to promote interfaith understanding and support for Muslim communities in Adamawa state.

As the news continues to spread on social media, church leaders in Adamawa and Northern Nigeria have expressed concern, with the LCCN leader being the first to visit the Senator’s family and engage in a closed-door meeting.
Other Christian leaders, including the EYN church leadership and Northern state CAN chairmen, have also visited the Senator’s residence to address the matter.
The Senator’s wife has expressed gratitude for the support and visits, particularly from Archbishop Filibus, who prayed for the family during his visit.
A social media influencer, Mohammed A Adamu took to his Facebook whose daily throng of commentators reaches to millions eulogies Abbo to be the ideal warrior Islam Faith will easily and freely accommodate.
According to him the Adamawa State non-serving Senator is a fearless man and a Warrior that he cherishes so much.
“Islam needs warriors, Senator Abbo you have been a warrior. May Allah convert you to be a Muslim. Therefore, Islam is all about peace and love, action of other Muslims going against the religion doesn’t define ISLAM.” Adamu said

Senator Abbo, who was raised Christian, has made the decision as an adult to convert to Islam. This personal choice reflects his spiritual journey and beliefs. As freedom of religion is a fundamental right, we should respect his decision to follow the faith he feels is right for him. May he find fulfillment and guidance on his new spiritual path.
