In a wild protest within the campus, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics ASUP Federal Polytechnic Mubi Chapter has rejected the purported ‘New Scheme of Service’ allegedly floated by the Federal government.
In a letter submitted to the Governing Council of the Polytechnic for onward delivery to the Minister of Education,ASUP through its Chairman,TPL Comrade Kadala Solomon Bandi in company of National Officer, Comrade Hussaini James and top officials as well as it’s members,the union posited that the rejected new Scheme of Service’ is not part of the document they were earlier invited to formulate because it was altered.

“We wouldn’t know if such distortions and other strange insertions in the Scheme of Service’ came from the NBTE or the office of the Head of Service of the Federation”
It therefore called for the immediate suspension of the implementation of the purported ‘New Scheme of Service’, agitating for creation of Polytechnic Commission which will be responsible for employment and regulation of policies of all Polytechnics across the nation.
He pointed out that ASUP, FED POLY MUBI is in full support and in total solidarity with CNO’s and NEC’s resolutions on the Scheme of Service’ documents, that when a legal and tangible or new policy is made,a monetorium period of reasonable period be given before the implementation of such policies and that the Polytechnic sector is already a skill oriented sector and as such, the NSQ Skil cannot and should not be used as a criteria for promotion to any level and therefore it should be removed completely.
When interviewed at the event, the National Officer of the Union, Comrade Hussaini James said, the protest was in the right direction because it was holding Nationwide.
