The Chairman of the Taraba State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Peter Jediel has accused the Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria of being the main cause of the enormous problems Nigerians are having.
Jediel made the disclosure Tuesday at Government House, Jalingo while addressing State government officials during NLC solidarity rally in support of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike across the Nation.
State NLC boss said Senior Civil Servants like Permanent Secretaries, Directors, Secretaries of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have refused and/or failed to tell the Politicians the truth of the matter because of their pockets.
He pointed out that such insane attitudes and character of Senior Civil Servants for not telling their Princiapals the way things should be done have crippled government activities and also dragged the Educational and other Sectors of governance to the mud.
“Governors are Politicians, Commissioners are Politicians but Permanent Secretaries, they are the Staff, they are the Civil Servants”,
“For them to tell these people the truth, they will not because of their pockets and that is why the Junior ones are suffering, that is the brain behind the situation of things today”, he said.
Comrade Jediel further made a passionate appeal to all the Permanent Secretaries of both Federal and State level to always do the right thing at all times for the Society to grow.
He added that the protest was according to the directives from the National Secretariat of NLC in solidarity to the plight of ASUU across the Country.
He however, called on the State Government to speed up the NLC communication to the Federal Government towards ensuring that ASUU strike ends within one week.
Responding, Taraba Governor, Darius Ishaku, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Taninga Binga pledged that the State Government would collaborate with other States in the Country to ensure that ASUU strike comes to an end.
Our Correspondent reports that NLC and TUC members with placards of various inscriptions commenced their rally from NLC Secretariat, along Mile Six bye-pass to Government House, Jalingo.
