The Adamawa State House of Assembly member representing Jada/ Mbulo constituency Hon. Hammanjoda Umar, has said that he expect Nigerian Senate President Bukola Saraki, to be a major unifying factor leader to all Sons and Daughters of All Progressive congress (APC) at both the red and green chambers of the National Assembly.
Umar who spoke to our correspondent to clear the air and to react on a misquoted usage of a phrase statement that the Senate President is a “treat to democracy “by some medium last two weeks.
According to him he is a passionate APC loyalist and do not want to see the house being divided or opposition using some of the party members to cause a serious cracks to penetrate in to divide the APC members at the National Assembly.
The lawmaker was having a concern over the unnecessary crisis to confirm Ibrahim Magu , as chairman Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) where most of the objection raised against Magu are coming from the members of APC.
“I was trying to say that Senate President Bukola should not be an opposition within APC as an enemy within can be more devastating than an enemy without and should not personalise everything about government policies.
“He is a leader to all APC members at the senate,to me their unity is to strengthen democracy and to booster the fraternity cord among the APC family during and after plenaries.
“He can be accused of running the Senate as his private estate and can pose a serious political threat to the future of the APC if the party’s national leadership does not come together to foster unity among the party faithfuls.” he Meant
Umar was trying to explain that the action of the Senate dominated by APC members is anti-government and that their continuos opposition to the president’s decisions will not bring development to the country.
Urging the senators not to personalise issues of national interest and that they should put aside their political differences and work for the growth of democracy.
He urged the Senate to confirmed Magu, pointing out that EFCC under the present chairman has been active and that the tempo must be maintained in order cage the menace of corruption.
