Atiku campaigns in Katsina, pledges to open all borders if elected president

If elected president in 2023, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has pledged to open all borders.

He made the pledge during a campaign rally at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, the home of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku specifically pledged to end Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike and restore the nation’s economy and security. He asked Katsina State voters to cast their ballots entirely in favor of the PDP.

In a post on Tuesday on his Twitter handle appreciating the outing, Atiku said, “I was honoured this afternoon to be a guest of the Emir of Katsina, HRM Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, when I led my team on a courtesy visit to his palace. I’m most appreciative of his generous hospitality.

“Whatever development you see in Katsina was undertaken by the PDP including this stadium, New Government House.”

Among the notables present were Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Atiku’s running mate, and Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman.

When the campaign train arrived at about 2:07 PM, party supporters including Yakubu Lado Dan Marke, the PDP governorship candidate for Katsina, gave Atiku a warm welcome.

Atiku and his campaign team visited the late president Umaru Musa Yar’adua’s mother and HRH Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, the emir of Katsina, earlier after arriving.
