The Residents of Bachure community of Yola North area of Adamawa state have lambasted the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri over neglect of road construction leading into the community.
The residents cried for the slow movement of the road under construction is causing untold hardship to the entire community, especially when it rains.
The less than four kilometres road was among the awarded contract by the Fintiri led administration when he was barely three months in office, assured the completion of the road within a short period of time.
Alhaji Abdul-Aziz Abba who owned a house in Bachure, a suburb of Jimeta metropolitan city said the neglect of the road has discredited the good intention of the state government as the hardship they are now experiencing is far worse than when it’s not under construction.
Malafa questioned the professional ability of Badcho African Limited, the company who the road reconstruction is under their care.
He wondered why the Fintiri led administration has decided to consider such a company that is seeing not to have the equipment to reconstruct the road.
“It is indeed worrisome and lamentable, we all celebrated the reconstruction of the road and praised Governor Fintiri for bringing joy to our people, but our joy is turning into mourning with the limbo ongoing work by the unqualified company handling the road.
” During the flagged off ceremony December 2019, Governor Fintiri received thunderous praise of people chanting the fresh air slogan when he even assured us of work done in three months time before the commencement of this year’s rainy season.
“As I’m talking to you, you dare not come out with your car if there is heavy downpour is either your car will be trapped down by the mud as a result of bad construction. Worse of it all, we are now experiencing serious flooding when it rains.” Abba said
Another resident, Mathew Tizhe who owned a cement shop by the road site blamed and lamented that the government under Fintiri Leadership is taking away the confidence they earned from the residents of the community.
He said If the reconstruction of 3.185km road awarded in December 2019, with a promised completion in three months time but staggering for reasons base known to them is actually a slap on the Governor’s face who is their celebrated hero.
In response, the state Commissioner of Works and Energy, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar told our correspondent that a press statement has since been released empathising with the entire community.
Adamu craved for their understanding to the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of sets back to the progress of the work and the company handling the road site are deploying their equipment to Adamawa state.
He said the government are up and committed to providing the necessary needs of the state, pleading with the residents to bear with the government, assured that the company are now being mount pressure to finish the work on sooner possible time.
“We are sorry for the company hesitating the work and causing a lot of floods to their homes, obviously nobody anticipated it and could 19 has contributed to the uncertainty we are now seeing,
” Governor Fintiri has vowed to work for the masses and his good intentions to have awarded the contract of the road is because the people of the community are too dear to him. It’s unforeseen circumstances is causing the little delay.” Adam said
