Bala warns public servants, says his govt has zero tolerance for financial mismanagement

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has warned public servants in the state against involvement in any form corrupt tendencies.

The governor gave the warning while addressing participants at the opening ceremony of a 3-day workshop on Accountability and Good Governance’ organized by the Bauchi state government in collaboration with Dugge Management Services Ltd.

Bala noted that his administration has zero tolerance for financial mismanagement.

Represented by his deputy, Senator Baba Tela, the Governor said, “our guiding principle has been transparency and accountability in the award and execution of contracts”.

“Let me use this opportunity to remind the participants at this workshop that our government has zero tolerance for financial mismanagement and self enrichment”, the governor added.

According to Bala, “it is no longer business as usual, anyone cought in the act of financial misconduct would be dealt with in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations”.

Governor Bala said his administration is the type that believes in maximizing the use of scarce resources for the common good of the people.

“We have therefore been constructing roads, constructing and renovating health infrastructure, provision of water and other dividends of democracy across the state with the limited resources at our disposal”, he said

The governor noted that his administration has succeeded in doing it through blocking leakages, adherence to due process and ensuring value for money in respect to all projects executed.

“As a government we want a clean break from the past corrupted tendencies so that funds would be freed to provide infrastructural facilities and social aminities to our people”.

The governor appealed to the participants to listen attentively to the presentations of the resource persons as well as participate actively in subsequent discussions in order to derive maximum benefit from the workshop.

“You should not be here only to warm your seat and wait for the closing hour without taking the knowledge from the workshop to your various ministries, departments and agencies”, the governor admonished.

He told the participants that the workshop was meant to equip and reorient them towards better service delivery.

He also urged them to after the workshop, organize an inhouse training at their various ministries, departments and agencies in order to impact in their subordinates, the knowledge acquired during the workshop.

In a vote of thanks, the Chief Executive Officer of Dugge Management Services Ltd, Alhaji Gambo Magaji assured that his services will always be available for the Bauchi state government to make use of.
